It is a matter of great pride and honor to witness the formal establishment and registration of the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This milestone has been achieved through the collective efforts, dedication, and unity of the Governing Body members and veterinary professionals from across the province working together for the betterment of the veterinary profession and the welfare of society.
The Governing Body has been constituted through representation from all major regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and from different professional sectors including the Livestock and Dairy Development Department Extension and Research Wings, Poultry Sector, Academia, Veterinary Industry, Private Sector Professionals, and other important fields related to livestock and animal health. This broad representation reflects our commitment to inclusiveness, unity, and professional harmony.
PVMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been established as a professional, democratic, and progressive platform for veterinarians. As mentioned in the approved bylaws of the Association, the General Body Elections, including the Executive Working Committee and Governing Body Elections, will be held after every four years to ensure democratic continuity, transparency, and active participation of veterinary professionals in the Association’s leadership.
We are pleased to share that the PVMA registration process has been developed through an online system to facilitate veterinarians across the province and beyond. Veterinary professionals have been provided free access to become Regular Members, while veterinary students can register freely as Student Members to encourage youth participation and professional engagement. Other categories of membership will be announced in the future.
One of the key future visions of PVMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is to establish a comprehensive digital professional platform where veterinarians can maintain complete professional profiles highlighting their qualifications, expertise, and experience. This initiative will help create professional networking, career development, and employment opportunities through linkages with companies, organizations, institutions, and development partners at national and international levels.
PVMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also aims to become a leading platform for organizing scientific, technical, educational, and business-oriented events at provincial, national, and international levels. Through conferences, seminars, workshops, expos, and professional collaborations, we aspire to strengthen veterinary knowledge, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the livestock sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which remains one of the major contributors to livelihoods, food security, and the agricultural economy of the province.
As President of the Governing Body, I firmly believe that the future of PVMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lies in professional unity, institutional strength, youth empowerment, ethical practices, scientific advancement, and continuous professional development. We are committed to building a respected, skilled, motivated, and empowered veterinary community dedicated to serving humanity through compassionate care for animals and livestock.
I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all colleagues, seniors, young professionals, and supporters who contributed to this historic achievement. Together, we will continue working for the dignity and welfare of veterinarians and the sustainable advancement of the veterinary profession in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dr. Khalid Farooq
